Living Loved

DESIGNING A BOOK WITH A HEART FOR TEEN GIRLS

My wife, Jamie, wrote Living Loved to encourage teen girls in their faith and help them understand their worth. I brought that message to the page through book design and layout, and supported its reach with promotional materials and a website.

Through our partnership with THERE{4} Gathering, the book was given to every girl attending the conference. A Spanish translation reached girls in Morelia, Mexico, bringing the same message of love and hope to another community.

Why does this work matter?

These handwritten notes from Morelia speak clearly: teen girls need to know they are loved. Living Loved is a guide to help them understand God’s love, build confidence in their identity, and grow spiritually.

Designing Living Loved

It is not a traditional book with black text over white. To help Living Loved connect with its young audience, it is a very visual, interactive book. It’s meant to be experienced, scribbled on. The quieter layouts for daily reading encourage reflection, while the graphic spreads with photography are designed to inspire the reader.

Supporting the conversation

The companion leader’s guide carries the book’s visual identity into group discussions.
